In the past certain rules applied as to whom would pay for what when it came to the wedding. However, today more flexible rules apply and couples usually divide expenses in a way that is agreeable with everyone.
In the traditional scheme of things, the bride's family pays for the wedding ceremony and the groom's family is responsible for hosting the rehearsal dinner and for buying a gift for you and your bride.
As the groom, you are expected to pay for:
- The bride's engagement ring
- The wedding rings
- Your tuxedo rental
- A wedding gift for your bride
- Your own medical tests
- The marriage license
- The groomsmen's boutonnieres
- The groomsmen's gifts
- Accommodations for out-of-town guests
- The officiant's fee
- The honeymoon
